Regulation

Up2U provides services that are regulated by the Financial Services Authority (Number 451920) and Up2U’s management is subject to supervision by professional bodies including the Chartered Insurance Institute and the Law Society. Please see the FSA website for further information.

To assist clients to adopt self-insurance Up2U offers services in four areas:

1 Statutory requirements: you will be ‘road legal’ by our issuing a certificate satisfying the provisions of section 143(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1988. Up2U will also undertake registration of vehicles with the Motor Insurers’ Bureau, and deal with the issue of Green Cards, as required.
2 Risk-capping mechanism: clients’ exposure to risks above their risk threshold is subject to insurance arrangements. These comply with European Union standards, and are managed by one of the world’s largest insurance operations.
3 Processing services:
a. Mechanical processing services are not regulated. However Up2U’s primary processing partner, WNS Assistance, is subject to supervision of the FSA.
b. Legal processing services: Some of our legal services will be subject to the supervision of the Law Society (in particular the conduct of litigation on behalf of our clients). The Law Society have confirmed that these functions may be discharged by the in-house Solicitors department of Up2U, that is subject to supervision by the Law Society – as is Up2U’s legal panel.
c. Management: Up2U’s managers are also subject to supervision by their respective professional bodies e.g. The Chartered Insurance Institute, The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales etc.
4 Payment arrangements: Some of Up2U’s credit services will be subject to supervision by the Office of Fair Trading. Up2U (UK) Limited has been issued with credit licence number 575327.
